FOOT BINDING,2013

Foot binding, a strange custom that has existed in China for more than 1000 years, has come to an end; At present, although the form of foot binding is no longer, the concept of women's "foot binding" - cosmetic surgery, breast enhancement, weight loss and so on still continues.

In 1922, artist Xiaoxuan Chen spent nearly two years on the full-scale investigation, interview, recording and research of these entanglements.

Through the life course of these centuries and the entanglement of symbols, we want to show the changes of history and the bondage of shackles on sex and devastation.

Chen's whole comprehensive media art exhibition will record those who are forever through images and other art forms. The trace of the long disappeared entangled people is due to the retention of their collective memory and the meaning of describing history. They entangle their feet, and their rough fate is inseparable from these foot wraps. The reflection on the current sexual aesthetics is also the topic that the author wants to discuss in his works.

It has been nearly a thousand years from the previous foot binding to the present foot binding variant of artificial beauty. Now people see that most of the small footed women in ancient times hold the attitude of criticizing their ugly and evil habits. We don't know what kind of values the beautiful women are in a few hundred years, and when can the female group really untie the foot binding that binds them.
