Tianmiao Lin is one of the well-known installation artists in China. Tianmiao Lin often gets creative inspiration from her personal life experience. The materials used in her early works are simple, and she is good at combining various pieces of cloth, string, and other materials into huge installation works. Tianmiao Lin spent six years collecting about 2000 vocabulary and expressions about women in different languages. She collected phrases such as "divinité," Mori girl," and "leftover women," some of which clearly contained derogatory meanings to women. For example, the term ''yellowface wife'' was initially used to describe the phenomenon that Chinese women's faces turned yellow due to the lead in ancient cosmetics. It gradually evolved into a derogatory term used to describe a wife who does not like dressing up and is getting older, especially a full-time housewife. The number of derogatory terms for women in modern times has become more extensive. For example, ''leftover women'' refers to women who are still unmarried over the age of 27. This term contains disapproval of them: they are left, failed, and even unfilial. It can be seen from these words that from ancient times to the present, the requirements for women are harsh. If they do not follow the expectations of male society, they are at risk of being accused. These derogatory words undoubtedly aggravate the pressure on women.
